Frequently Asked Questions

What if there is an emergency and I need to see a veterinarian right away?

We understand that the health and wellness of your pet won’t always run within hospital hours and that sometimes life is unpredictable. If your pet needs urgent attention within business hours, we will always try to fit them in as an emergency visit at one of our facilities. Our seamless information sharing can create your booking without fuss or hassle to get you seen as quickly as possible.

If an appointment time is unavailable or your pet needs attention in the wee hours, we highly recommend a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital such as the Veterinary Specialists of Sydney, the Small Animal Specialist Hospital and the Animal Referral Hospital.

How much does a visit to the veterinarian cost?

Just as you would expect when receiving care from a doctor or specialist, our services generally have a different cost depending on the visit type. An intensive surgery will cost more than a simple visit for a vaccination or to use our nail clipping facilities. A typical visit for microchipping or preventative care will generally have a standard price, but it will often depend on the needs of your pet.

Our friendly Kirrawee team are always happy to help and discuss the potential cost of your visit and services. Simply contact us for more information, or to discuss payment options and pet insurance.

Will me and my pet feel comfortable with your service?

We adopt a collaborative care process between our team and the family who know their pet better than anyone. In doing so, you will feel empowered and at ease every step of the way with how your precious scale, feather or fur baby will be treated within our surgery. Our Kirrawee team is available to bring the best care to your pet with top-class facilities, empathetic treatment, the latest training and gentle handling.

Will my pet be nervous?

It is normal and common for a pet to feel apprehension when visiting the veterinarian, just as you would feel in visiting a doctor. This may be amplified during an emergency visit, for surgery or hospital stay. Your pet will pick up on your nerves, so it is best to be as confident and calm as you can leading up to the visit.

Our team will do everything they can to make your pet feel comfortable and implore tried and true methods to keep them calm and happy. Everyone performing your pet’s surgery or providing services loves your pet and will give them the kindness and focus that they deserve. With methods such as positive psychology and tools for mitigating anxiety, we are experts in managing the stress and pain of our patients. Whether your pet needs pain relief or helps to remain calm, we will know exactly how to provide adequate care. Additionally, we use the latest in safe anaesthetic and imaging technology which allows us to work quickly and efficiently on animals large and small.

What days are you open?

With two facilities within short driving distances from Kirrawee, getting proper care within an appropriate time has never been simpler. Both of our clinics offer services and care seven days a week, providing more appointment times than ever before.

How do I book an appointment?

It is simple to book at either of our clinics through our online booking system, or a call to either of our clinics if you’d prefer to speak to a real human.
